Ivlyn’s new video that’s got everybody talking

The amazing Coke studio backing vocalist Ivlyn Ndunge Mutua who hails from Masii, Machakos County decided to take things to the next level. This is after she released a tip-top debut video called ‘Power’ directed by Groove awards video director of the year winner Sammy Dee (True-D). The audio is a great reggae song produced by More life Media and Shamma sound system but the video now makes it even much better.

Ivlyn who is also a worship leader told us that she got the inspiration to write Power in Acts 1:8 while meditating in her morning devotion.

“The day when I was writing this song, I had a nice track that I wanted to write a song on. In the process, I decided to use my morning devotion scripture Acts 1:8 which says, and you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and that’s how the song came to be.” She said.

Despite the fact that the audio was released like a year ago, the video has received massive response and Ivlyn says that she was waiting for the right time not just for the video but her music in general.

“I personally believe there is always the right time for everything. God has to lead you to know when is the right time, so this year I felt like it’s the right time for me not just for the video but to put my music out there from this video hence forth.” She explained.

There are also a number of songs she has done including ‘Sound the alarm’, ‘Hiding place’, ‘Delilah’ featuring Hopekid, ‘Anainama’ featuring Cooby Bly and ‘I’ll go’ featuring Noel Nderitu.

She decided to do the reggae music because her first inspiration to do music was her elder brother Dafari (The best Gospel reggae dancehall artist in Africa). Though this does not limit her prowess as she told us that she has written worship songs which she plans to release on intervals with other genres that she has done.

In addition, the exposure she gets from working in Coke studio as a backing vocalist has made her learn from the best and work with the best from the Continent something which makes her feel like she is now ready to put her music out there.

To her fans, Ivlyn says that she has a lot in store for them as she plans to even release her debut album mid next year. She will be shooting a video of her song ‘I’ll go’ next month.
