On Monday afternoon, Machakos governor Dr. Alfred Mutua inspected the ongoing construction by the county Government of
the Kivandini-Masinga road. The governor was impressed with the speed and quality of the work being done. Later on Mutua visited the site of Sunday’s fire disaster in Matuu.
Mutua said, “It is sad to see destruction of property that the affected had secured for years. I heard from Businessman and Mechanic Mutisya Mwonga how the fire razed down his garage, destroying property worth millions. By sheer luck, the fire did not spread to the attached residential homes.”
The fire that destroyed millions of property was put off by one of the county fire engines that came all the way from Tala.
Mutua promised that his government will ensure there is a fire engine, within the area and in all the major towns over a period of one year, starting with Matuu town. He also added that his government will decentralize emergency services so as to speed up emergency response.
This after all, is an important service in keeping with the Maendeleo Chap Chap ideology.
Mutua also added that he will be back in Matuu soon to commission the construction of the Matuu bus park.
