Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Dr. Alfred Mutua has withdrawn his support from jubilee. This is a major turn of events after he announced a few months ago that he will be supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta re-election.

On Tuesday Mutua said that chap chap will align itself with neither jubilee nor NASA. He pointed out that his party is independent. Mutua was speaking at Tala Market in Matungulu Sub County where he had gone to campaign for his gubernatorial seat.

The governor pointed out that he deflected from wiper due to frustrations. He added that he would run for the presidency come 2022.

“ in 2022 I  will run for the presidential seat under Maendeleo chap chap party but for now, I will defend my Machakos gubernatorial seat for the second seat,’’ said Mutua

He pointed out that his deflection from wiper was because Kalonzo Musyoka and Johnston Muthama fought him because he was development oriented than the two. He cleared that they did not have any other issue.

Since the party endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta earlier on, the decision of Mutua not supporting Uhuru may affect his support from leaders who deflected to chap chap from central Kenya. The leaders joined the party understanding its position with Kenyatta`s re-election.
