Mike Sonko’s first born daughter Saumu Mbuvi has talked about her father becoming the next governor of Nairobi. Saumu who is a graduate of the JKUAT Karen campus is convinced that his father is the much-needed fix that will right the Nairobi ills.
Writing on social media, the outspoken girl vouched for her support for her father and his recently unveiled running mate Polycarp Igathe- the Vivo Energy MD.
“Let us fix Nairobi once and for all, team SonkoIgathe,” Saumu wrote in one of the updates. The girl went on to express confidence that Sonko will correct all the issues that are currently plaguing Nairobi; garbage disposal issues, traffic jams, and even insecurity.
Saumu is the eldest of Sonko’s kids. As previously reported on watchtower.co.ke, Sonko had claimed that he got Saumu while he was in Form 3. This probably explains the deep connection between Sonko and his daughter.
While speaking at an interview on Citizen TV, Sonko shed tears while speaking of the love he has for his daughter.
Senator Sonko picked Vivo MD Polycarp Igathe as his running mate in the race to take over from Governor Evans Kidero.
Sonko, the Jubilee Party nominee, had choices of aspirants including former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru, Dennis Waweru, Millicent Omanga, Jimnah Mbaru, John Gakuo, James Kiyapi and Janet Ouko.
Sonko defeated former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and Wanjiru in the nominations. He got 138,185 votes while Kenneth and Wanjiru got 62,504 and 7,654 respectively.
The former Starehe MP, Wanjiru had publicly requested to be Sonko’s running mate, saying she could mobilize many supporters and help fund campaigns
