National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders, who were in Machakos County for their second presidential campaign rally after launching their manifesto in Kakamega over the weekend, said that Jubilee government has failed to deliver on its projects and were only riding on the ones initiated by the Grand Coalition government.
The opposition slammed the ruling Jubilee administration for looting of taxpayers’ money through corruption scandals and failing to deliver on what they promised Kenyans during the last General Election.
“Jubilee promised to bring laptops to children within their first 100 days in office, they did not do that. Jubilee is very corrupt and when we, opposition, talk boldly they abuse us. Just look at the NYS case where more than Ksh250 billion was lost. Funds meant for HIV patients were lost and later it was revealed that relatives of top Jubilee leaders were the looting,” said NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga.
Raila Odinga’s running-mate, Kalonzo Musyoka, remained optimistic that Ukambani region is an opposition stronghold and no candidate other than Wiper and the ones affiliated to NASA will clinch elective seats in the coming August polls.
“The likes of Joe Mutambo and Regina Munyao (MPs who defected to Jubilee), I have given them to President Uhuru but Ukambani is a NASA stronghold and they will face the axe come August. Even Governor Mutua will not be favored by the NASA juggernaut. He will lose the elections because people of Ukambani have decided it is NASA,” said Kalonzo Musyoka.
Ford Kenya party leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula urged Ukambani voters not to be deceived by Jubilee and Governor Mutua, reminding them of the Machakos City project that never surfaced even after the president attended the launch.
“Jubilee will not help you. What has the government done in Ukambani region for the last four years? What efforts has Jubilee done to initiate the Konza City project? They are now employing propaganda to scare chiefs that if Odinga wins he will sack them, which is not true,” said the Bungoma senator.
Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto promised the charged crowd that the first project a NASA government will implement if they ascend to power will be to build Konza City as documented by the Grand Coalition government as well as constructing a dam that will solve the water shortage matter.
