Kalonzo Musyoka has broken his silence after Wiper’s aspirant for the Machakos gubernatorial seat was disqualified. The announcement of the nullification was made on Thursday, June 8 following a decision by the IEBC disputes tribunal. This is despite the fact that Wavinya won twice in the primaries after the first exercise was canceled following claims of foul play.
Kalonzo Musyoka who is the Wiper Party leader has finally spoken saying that Jubilee is behind the decision to bar Ndeti from the race.
He said that Jubilee was worried that Wavinya would oust Alfred Mutua. Wavinya was poised to become one of the first female governors in Kenya after pulling a startling two times win at the Wiper primaries. However, the IEBC tribunal disqualified her for being a member of two parties, Wiper Democratic Movement and Chama cha Uzalendo (CCU).
The ruling was made following a complaint by Kyalo Peter Kyuli seeking to nullify Ndeti’s nominations. Kyuli argued that IEBC had confirmed she was still the CCU leader while a member of Wiper which is an electoral offense.
The complainant was also supported by Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama who wanted Wavinya’s nomination nullified. Speaking of the incidence, Wavinya revealed that she will be appealing the decision by lodging an appeal to the High Court.
