The National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential running mate said that the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led outfit was behind the problems in Machakos in as far as Wavinya is concerned, noting that Jubilee was worried that she would bring down Alfred Mutua.
Wavinya had been seen as a force to reckon with in the county’s gubernatorial race, especially after winning in the Wiper primaries, not once but twice albeit controversially. The IEBC tribunal however revoked the nomination for being a member of two parties, Wiper and Chama cha Uzalendo (CCU).
The ruling was arrived at after a voter by the name Kyalo Peter Kyuli petitioned the poll body to invalidate Ndeti’s nominations.
Kyuli, who is also an MCA, argued that the former Kathiani MP had contravened electoral laws as she was still the CCU leader and also member of Wiper when she was handed the nomination certificate by the latter.
Kalonzo’s former ally, Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, had vowed to make sure Wavinya, whom he accused of gate-crashing Wiper, didn’t vie in the August 8 race.
He swore an affidavit in support of the petition that wanted the IEBC to nullify her nomination.
