Machakos gubernatorial candidate on Wiper Democratic Movement, Wavinya Ndeti, is now calling upon the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to make sure that they conduct a trustworthy, free and fair August 8, 2017 General Election.
Speaking after High Court sitting in Nairobi on Wednesday, June 21 overturned an IEBC’s Tribunal ruling excluding her from running for the Machakos seat, Wavinya advised the electoral agency to be independent in executing their duties by refusing to be won over by any external interests and allow the will of the people to win through in August polls.
“IEBC need to be fair, if they could have consulted the Registrar of Political Parties, we could not have reached here (in court). Today it has been seen that Kenya is bigger than Wafula Chebukati and IEBC. All this conflict is now in the past and I have forgiven IEBC, and I urge them to conduct a free and fair election in August. I want to thank people of Machakos for standing strong with me,” said Wavinya.
Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka expressed his self-assurance in Wavinya’s candidature, while urging residents to vote for her tremendously in August 8.
Kalonzo took a swipe at Governor Mutua, saying that he has been used by Jubilee to sabotage the opposition’s candidature in Machakos.
“I am happy that we have crossed this bridge. Let us now concentrate in campaigning for all our candidates to win in August. Now we know who are being used,” said Kalonzo.
